Due to Covid-19, Trakkers cannot run weekend trips for the 2021-2022 ski season.
In previous years, we have offered weekend trips in January and February. (Please see below for examples.) Watch this page for updates for the 2022-23 season.
Typically, we reserve 4 cottages at Blue Spruce Cottages for 2 nights around the second weekend of Feb, for a total of 21 guests.
Blue Spruce Cottages are conveniently located just to the west of Algonquin Park (skiing, snowshoeing) and in close proximity to Arrowhead Provincial Park (skiing, snowshoeing, skating) and Huntsville (restaurants, shops). The resort also has their own well-groomed and track-set trail system, as well as an ice skating rink on the lake and a toboggan run. They sell a special day pass for the Algonquin park trails for only $10/carload. Ski or snowshoe rental is available at the Algonquin Outfitters as well as at Arrowhead.
About the cottages:
We stay in well-kept cottages with a maximum of 6 people per cottage (eg. 3 bedrooms, two per bedroom, some with single beds for individuals).
- fully equipped kitchen in each cottage; propane BBQ outside
- nice living room area, with wood fireplace
- bedding and towels provided
In the past, we have offered another weekend at Woolner House (near Highlands Nordic) in late January. This was more of a “dorm” style large single building, for upwards of 15 people, in multiple rooms. This resort is no longer available, but we are in search of similar options as this kind of friendly group setting is a great way to get to know fellow Trakkers.
